Ten Reasons to Shop at Mill Street Florist

1. Selection
We have the widest selection of fresh cut flowers in all of Ottawa. And even better, if we don’t have it, we’ll do everything we can to get it for you.

2. Service
We will do anything we possibly can to make your flower buying experience a happy one. After all, our success depends on your satisfaction.

3. Qualifications
The Mill Street staff receives the best on-going training available, including annual hands on courses with international designers, to keep abreast of new trends and techniques. Mill Street Florist is one of only a handful of shops in all of Canada to have accredited designers on staff. You can be certain that when we say we’re creative, we are telling the truth.

4. Unconditional Guarantee
We guarantee all of our flowers. If you’re not happy, we’re not happy. Check out our reputation with the Better Business Bureau. No complaints. Ever.

5. Environment
We work hard to protect our environment. All our paper and cardboard packaging materials are recycled. We have implemented composting systems for all of our organic waste. And all of our used flower water, (and we do use a lot of water) is diverted to an on-site irrigation system we’ve developed to water the flower gardens around the shop. We have also partnered with one of our major suppliers to reduce packaging waste by having their product delivered to us in reusable plastic shipping boxes. This helps to divert waste from the landfill and saves many trees every year.

6. Shop local
Whenever possible, we buy Canadian products.

7. Globally Responsible
We only buy “Fair Trade” flowers. We research our partners growers and farms, to ensure that they participate in fair trade practices, as endorsed by the German FLP, Max Havelaar, Europe’s FFP, and Sierra Eco, including the protection of the local environment, paying fair wages to workers, providing health care and education for the children of the workers, and abiding by strict safety standards.

8. Co-Op and Mentoring
We make ourselves available to local highschools and colleges, to encourage education in the horticulture and floriculture field, and, when needed, provide a co-op placement position for those interested in participating in hands on training.

9. Community
We live where we work, and support our community by freely giving back, through generous donations to various local charitable organizations.

10. Passion
We really are the best. We’ve been featured in many Canadian, and international magazines. Joanne regularly is asked to share her knowledge through workshops, key-note speeches, and television appearances. She is an active member of the American Institute of Floral Designers, and a founder of the Canadian Academy of Floral Art. We have worked on projects all over Canada and the U.S. We’ve won too many design competitions to name. And still, after all this, we still love what we do. And it shows.
